In my first week of Marketing 101 in undergrad, I quickly was ordered to memorize the three P’s of marketing (pricing, placement, and promotion). You can google the “three P’s” and what pops up? You’ll find a gaggle of people who have made up their own version of the three P’s as it relates to success or whatever else you can think of.
Do we really need another person telling us how to “be successful” through social media? My answer is Absolutely NOT. As the great Dr. Warner Burke taught me in my most recent course of Leadership and Supervision at Columbia University’s Teachers College: leadership is personal. You can read everyone’s article, book, or “5 simple steps to growing rich” but guess who they apply to: the PERSON WHO WROTE THEM!
Everyone thinks they have the simplest system to have you make it, but in truth, its the system designed for them make it…again. My three P’s are not about how you make it, they are about what I stand for. I LOVE the small business owner. It takes a certain kind of grit and guts to put out your own shingle and live your passion. So I say that passion, productivity, and profitability are what I stand for. That will look COMPLETELY different for each person. I don’t say this is what will work for you. I don’t even say this is a formula for success. I DO know that you run your own show because you have a passion that was too big for any cubicle. Being productive with those I work with puts forth an energy that is exhilarating. I love watching people make their lives or businesses WORK for them. Whether we admit it or not, we want and need to be profitable, and that is ok. Money is just energy that allows us to be more of who we are and GIVE more of who we are to the world. When I profit, I can create more ability to serve others, and that makes me happy. But this is only MY perspective.
The truth is — you cannot go by someone’s else’s formula, unless you what to live someone else’s life. Your career, your passions, your processes are all uniquely yours. I am not here to change them. I am here to work with people who simply acknowledge that they are HUMAN and we are not here to work alone. We need other people’s minds to bounce things off of. We need people to accentuate our own creativity or get us out of our own heads.
Do we need another book or formula on success? We need more people willing to break themselves open to find their own formula. We need less experts and more facilitators, less directors and more spot light operators, less gurus and more illuminators.
I do not have all of your answers. I don’t even claim to have all of MY answers.
What do I have? I’m ridiculously fast at processing and creating. My creativity is like a ball of lighting that can turn an idea into a blueprint for reality in about 20 minutes. But I play off of YOUR energy. I play off of YOUR vision. We invent systems, processes, and ideas with and for your goals. I don’t tell you how I would accomplish your goal. I help you discover the best way for you to accomplish it, and then I support you in doing it. I know my strengths and I know my weaknesses. For example — don’t ask me about…well actually you can ask me anything. If I don’t know the answer, I will find someone or some resource that can possibly lead you to it.
I also think there is nothing I need to sell. The “experts” will criticize me for this, and I am so ok with that.
Talk to me for 20 minutes and you will know in less than that if I am a person you want on your team of professional development or support. In the process, we also will have a ridiculous amount of fun. I mean come on, that’s why we are doing this right?
You know how to find me. No one can hide in the age of the social media explosion. I want to work with and for people that inspire me.
So go ahead. Please, I mean it. Inspire me and I’ll inspire you right back.
